Extraction (2020)

This is one of the best action movies I've ever seen. Chris Hemsworth is perfect in the lead role as a professional mercenary tasked with rescuing the son of an imprisoned crime kingpin kidnapped by a rival in the lawless city of Dhaka, where both the police and military are on the take. We are witnessing an extremely brutal chase that runs at full speed for two hours, but it's all very well put together, and the cinematography, CGI and stunts all come seamlessly and beautifully together. Furthermore, the characters aren't just the usual two-dimensional cardboard cutouts, but portrayed as vulnerable, complex, flesh-and-blood human beings that you can feel something for. And if you're into spectacular onetakes, you really get your money's worth. It looks like a the work of a seasoned filmmaker, but the director, former stuntman Sam Hargrave (coordinator on the Avengers films), is actually a first-timer. Bravo, I say. I'll have to watch it again very soon. It's on Netflix.
